(Anchorage)
WHO: Anchorage Home Builders Association Care Endowment
WHAT: Shoebox Program Backpack Stuffing Event
WHEN: Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, 5:00 p.m.
WHERE: 301 Arctic Slope Ave. Ste 102
Tonight volunteers with the Anchorage Home Builders Association Care Endowment will assemble hundreds of backpacks filled with toys and essential items for students in need within the Anchorage area. The AHBA Backpack Program is an annual event that helps hundreds of Anchorage students have a happy holiday. This year 1,000 backpacks will be given to the Anchorage School District.
Last week, members of AHBA used donations to buy gifts and necessities. Tonight they’ll pack these items into backpacks. The backpacks are then discreetly donated to students in the Anchorage School District who have been identified as requiring assistance.
This year’s Backpack Program is in memory of Larry Partusch, a longtime AHBA member and businessman in the Anchorage community. Partusch passed away earlier in this year. As the founder/owner of Partusch Plumbing & Heating, Partusch was passionate about helping Anchorage youth. He was involved in the Backpack Program every year and AHBA members are proud to volunteer in his honor this year.
Members of AHBA are available for interviews upon request.
