Today, students type their spelling tests, books are enjoyed on tablets or in headphones, and receiving a text is more common than a phone call. Technology is hard to escape but that doesn’t mean everyone subscribes to the idea that it’s always an improvement.

“We’re excited to welcome Lisa Huffman as our new CEO. She’s a lifelong Alaskan who cares deeply about our community. From working as a principal in our education system to serving on the board of an Alaska Native corporation, Lisa is a strong leader who will guide the Anchorage Home Builders Association into the future,” says Skyler Quinn, president of the AHBA board of directors.

Life is full of cycles. Some are bountiful, like the lifecycle of Alaska’s salmon. They run up the river to spawn. Eggs hatch in the river. The smolt travel to the ocean and eventually return to the river as salmon ready to spawn. This cycle keeps runs strong and fishermen and wildlife fed. However, other cycles need to be broken.
