‘Tis the Season to Spread Holiday Cheer to the Ones Who Need it Most
Every child deserves to experience the joy and magic of the holidays, but for underprivileged children in Anchorage, that can be a struggle. Thankfully, the Anchorage Home Builders Association's annual Shoebox Program is committed to providing gifts to those who need it most. Thanks to the dedication and generosity of AHBA members and community partners, over 1,200 students will receive gifts this holiday season.
AHBA partners with the Anchorage School District to identify students between 4 and 13 years old who are living in shelters or struggling financially. In December, volunteers gather for a shopping night followed by a backpack stuffing party. The following day, ASD collects the backpacks and distributes them to children before winter break.
Since its establishment in 2002, AHBA has been an integral part of spreading holiday cheer to children across Anchorage through the Shoebox Program. We extend our gratitude towards all those who contribute their time and resources towards making a difference in our community during this special time of year.
